The Fairwoods on Seven is a wonderful private community located in the beautiful Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina. Fairwoods on Seven is nestled among the beautiful longleaf pines with immaculate landscaping and homes of distinction. Membership with Pinehurst, Inc. provides seven courses on which to play a relaxed round of golf or join others for competitive play. Also enjoy fine dining in the clubhouse with friends. The course was originally designed by Rees Jones in 1986 and has been redesigned by Jones in 2002. Pinehurst member residents in No. 7 have the ability to enjoy their own club facilities and also have access to all of Pinehurst’s club privileges.
This gated golf community developed around Pinehurst’s #7 course is located just one mile from the main club, with entrances off Midland Road and Hwy. 15/501.
No. 7 is the Pinehurst contribution of another famous golf design family—in this case, the Jones’. Rees Jones – son of Robert Trent and brother of Robert Trent, Jr. – built No. 7 in 1986, on the site of a forgotten nine-hole employee course that was laid out by Donald Ross.Jones is known for his challenging tracks, and he didn’t skimp here. With No. 7, he created one of Pinehurst’s longest tracks at 7,216 yards (only No. 2 from the U.S. Open tees plays longer). The layout unfolds over dramatic, hilly terrain that’s dotted with wetlands in lower-lying areas.

Old bunkers from the employee course that Jones uncovered during initial routing adorn the tee of the par-4 4th hole; one wetlands area, the “Devil’s Gut,” must be cleared on your approach to the short par-4 7th hole, and Jones’ trademark “Fingers” bunker demands accuracy on 16.Every hole on No. 7 features something to test your game, and the last four holes make for a finish as strong as you’ll find anywhere. Just ask Tiger Woods, who won his lone Pinehurst title to date here in the 1992 Big I Junior Classic.
The Fairwoods on 7, designed by Rees Jones, is a gated community resort course that is offered as an upgrade from the Pinehurst 1-6 members (about $70/month upgrade). Fairwoods On 7 Members have access their own clubhouse/range, restaurant, tournament schedule, and several social events as well as access to the Pinehurst #8 course for a $20 cart fee. In my opinion this is one of the best values in golf. Pinehurst No. 7 is one of the most challenging and dramatic golf courses in the area. Fairwoods On 7 golf course is surrounded by about 100 home sites located in a park-like setting with winding roads, beautiful landscaping, ponds and custom built homes. Several Fairwoods On 7 homes overlook the Pinehurst #2 US Open Course. Click here for more information on Pinehurst Country Club Membership or a Pinehurst Home.
